Company selected from among more than 675 members in 26 states

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2013: On September 26, 2013, Sterilucent, Inc. (Minneapolis, MN), an innovative technology company developing low temperature sterilization solutions, received the Defense Alliance Architect of Defense Award, at HGA in the historic Ford Center in downtown Minneapolis. This honor is given annually to "a Defense Alliance member who best exemplifies and promotes the ideals and mission of the Defense Alliance."

"We are honored to have been able to work with the Department of Defense to develop a unique sterilization solution that supports their mission to provide the best healthcare possible to our injured heroes," said Stephen Loes, chief operating officer of Sterilucent. "We could not have achieved this without the support of our investors and the dedication of the development team, both of which have been crucial to this project's success. This award belongs to them."

Sterilucent was established in 2004 with a grant from the National Institutes of Health. Since then, the company has received additional funding from the Department of Defense and angel investors to continue its work developing a unique low temperature sterilizer for field-based operating theaters in combat support hospitals and remote healthcare settings. Working closely with the Defense Department, Sterilucent completed development of the Sterilucentâ„¢ PSD-85 Hydrogen Peroxide Sterilizer and all required accessories.

The Sterilucent PSD-85 system was designed to U.S. military (MIL-STD-810) specifications; as a result it is a fully ruggedized technology that is safe to transport and ready as soon as it is deployed and operational verification is completed. In addition, it consumes very low amounts of energy and the short cycle time enables fast sterilization. The PSD-85 process allows a wider variety of reusable temperature and moisture-sensitive instruments to be employed for procedures in combat support hospitals. In addition, Sterilucent offers a complete line of sterile processing packaging and sterility assurance products for use with the PSD-85 system, providing all the necessary elements for consistent, productive low-temperature sterilization from a single source.
